It’s time to move out! I am excited for you!
Living in a dorm the past two years, I know exactly what the average college student needs to bring along with them to college. It is way too easy to bring too much with you (I did it my first year) At the moment, I am not receiving commission for any of the suggestions on any of my posts. They just come from my experience!
Feel free to click on the URL’s to locate the exact items I have used & love.
-Twin XL sheets. If you think regular twin sheets will fit, they won’t. Trust me 🙂 I really like these jersey sheet sets from Target.
–Memory foam pillow. I purchased this exact pillow, and it is worth the investment. Stays cool so you don’t have to keep flipping your pillow over throughout the night.
–Foam Mattress Cover. You won’t regret purchasing one of these! College mattresses are not very comfortable. Pair this with the jersey sheets I mentioned above and you will be off to a comfortable nights’ sleep!
–Bed Bug Mattress Cover. You never know!
–4 Towels. I love these ones from Costco! I suggest four so that you always have some fresh towels in between laundry day.
–College Rug Decorative and comfy! Pairs great next to your bed or in front of your door. Or both! I love this one from Bed Bath & Beyond.
-Robe. Amazon is a quick and easy place to find one’s that work for you! I highly recommend purchasing one, because it makes going to and from the shower easy!
–Shower Caddy. A necessity!
–Desk Lamp. Lighting isn’t great in dorms. This lamp will make doing homework so much easier! Here is the one I use from PB Teen College. They have several different variations at different price points!
-Floor Length Mirror. I purchased mine for $6 at Fred Meyer.
–Pen/Pencil Holders. PB Teen has some really cute sets! However stores like Amazon, Target…etc, all have them as well.
-Command Strips/Hooks. Use these to add extra storage to your room, hand posters, etc.
-Clorox Wipes. Makes cleaning easier!
-Room Spray. Frebreze does a great job! Or invest in a Scentsy for a more lasting aroma.
-Quarters. Bring tons of quarters with you to pay for laundry!
-Ziploc Bags for snacking in between classes.
-Night Stand. These are great for setting your phone or keys down at night or when you come back to your dorm.
-Long phone charger. Often times the power outlet is not in a convenient spot in the dorm, so having a long phone charger is beneficial if you want to surf the web in bed.
-Gym Bag. Tuition usually includes a free gym membership!
-Lock for your gym locker.
-Headphones. Beats, Bose, and JayBirds would be my recomendations.
–Smart T.V. I use this smart T.V. in my dorm and it is great because it has Netflix, Hulu, and more all in one place!
-Microwave (some dorms come with a free one, but the food will taste better if you buy your own)
–Nutribullet is a convenient way to make smoothies 🙂
-Keurig is important for all you coffee lovers!
-Notebooks (specifically one subject per notebook. Keeps everything together for each class)
-Clothes for one season (I say this because storage in the dorm does not allow for much more than that).
-Folder binders. Some binders come equipped with folders, and this will help you keep your papers straight. Have a small one for each class.
–Extra Outlets! Bring extra outlets in case there are not enough in the room.
